ICE Release
Marion County Sheriff's Office's Arrest Two Criminal Illegal Aliens
The Marion County Sheriff's Office arrested two criminal illegal aliens in Hamilton and Hackleburg, respectfully, on Thursday February 20, 2025.
Taken into custody were Edilson Orlando Maeda, 32, who is originally from Guatemala but was living in Hamilton, and Adolfo Reyes Rodriguez, 43 a native of Mexico who was residing in Hackleburg. Both of these men had been charged with state sex abuse crimes - Rodriguez plead guilty to sexual abuse in the first degree, which is a felony, in 2019, while he was living in Russellville, and Maeda plead to a misdemeanor count of second-degree sexual abuse in Hamilton.
Both men were published on the Sheriff's Office's website which lists all sex offenders in Marion County, including their charges and photos.
Making the arrest were investigators and deputies from the Marion County Sheriff's Office, agents from ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement), Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Department of Homeland Security.
Both arrests were made without incident. Both were taken into custody by ICE officials and transported to Birmingham where they were scheduled for deportation to their native countries.
ICE obtained information from the Sheriff's Office's program for registering sex offenders in Marion County and subsequently, ICE agents contacted the Sheriff's Office and requested assistance in arresting these individuals. The morning of the arrests, all of the law enforcement agencies gathered at the Sheriff's Office and went over details before dividing into two groups to leave and make the arrests.
Marion County Sheriff Kevin Williams said, "This is the result of President Trump's new administration conducting research on illegal aliens who have committed crimes nationwide and we are glad he and his staff are taking note of us her in Marion County, because we are no different than anyone else in the country, we have illegals who have committed crimes living right here."
Williams continued, "We are glad to help the federal authorities to round up illegal immigrants. President Trump's platform involved removing these illegal immigrant criminals from the United States and he is doing just that. I, along with my staff, take a hardnosed approach to sex offenders in regard to making sure they are registered, can live and work only where they allowed to according to the state law, and report as scheduled. This is something which is very important to me because I want to see our citizens safe, but none more so than our children."
