What is required for an attorney to visit his/her clients?

REF: Attorney Visitation at the Marion County Jail

Beginning January 1, 2018, the Marion County Jail will be implementing new guidelines for Attorney/Client visitation at the Marion County Jail. Please familiarize yourself with these guides.

1.      The Marion County Jail will adhere to the same business hours as the Marion County Courthouse. Attorney/Client visitation will only be allowed Monday through Friday during the hours of 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM.

2.      Proof of representation will be required before you can visit with an inmate at the Marion County Jail. Acceptable methods of proof will be orders from the judge, copies of affidavit of hardship after it has been signed by the judge, or a notice of appearance. This will benefit both jail staff and the attorneys. It will benefit jail by allowing jail staff to verify who an inmate is represented by. And it will benefit attorneys by ensuring other attorneys don't interfere with your case.

This information can be presented to the Marion County Jail in the following ways:

·         Bring a copy of the document to the jail with you.

·         Fax to (205)-921-1648.

·         Email to ddodd@marionsoal.com or mcso.jail@gmail.com

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (205)-921-7433.
